A complicated theory about Qin’s power (long comment ahead)

A complicated theory about Qin’s power (long comment ahead)

  1. Qin is just goddamn hard to figure out.

First, we got the mercury thing, terracotta, great wall. Then there’s the sharp finger thingy, centipede tattoo and covered eye from the manga.

Well, before you continue, I suggest that you prepare tea and snacks first. This is a long and weird one. While you’re at it, grab a pen and paper.

Let’s start with the easy part.

First of all, I think Qin is an earthbender, which gives him the power to make the wall and terracotta army. But that isn’t enough for him, so, he drank mercury. Mercury amplifies his earthbending power so that it’s not just rock, but rock + mercury.

Here’s the thing: Roman has a god named Mercury. His Greek counterpart? Hermes.

Now there’s two ways this can go. One, Mercury is some sort of elemental booster for Qin. Something like Philosopher’s Stone for Qin. Second, Hermes gave Qin his blood, similar to how Zeus gave his blood to Heracles.

Whichever you pick, Mercury works like an inferior version of Zeus blood. I call it inferior because it doesn’t prevent Qin’s death. But, it made Qin an earth + mercury bender.

    Sounds simple enough.

    Let’s go crazier.

To make things less complicated, let’s just call his power as Ki (it’s short and easy to type on phone).

Now, let’s label it Small Ki, Medium Ki and Large Ki. Don’t worry, this will make sense later.

I think that his power is on the centipede tattoo. Think of it like the opposite of Heracles’s tattoo. The more power used, less tattoo can be seen on Qin.

    Small Ki = centipede’s feet

    Medium Ki = centipede’s feelers

    Large Ki = centipede’s body

When Small Ki was used, that will summon the terracotta army. Use more Small Ki = more army. This is for spread out attack.

Medium Ki = the finger thing. This is for close range attack.

Large Ki = summon the walls itself. This is for restricting the enemy.

Now, if all 3 Ki used at once, it can be a giant centipede. The terracotta army becomes feet, sharp finger thing become feeler or horn to attack, and the wall becomes centipede’s body.

Combine that with mercury and stone, you have Qin riding a stone-mercury centipede mecha.

But, what about his covered eyes?

The most famous law about fictional alchemy, equivalent exchange.

To use those golden finger thing/Medium Ki, Qin must sacrifice his eyes.

If we follow that rule, Small Ki should cost something less severe like hair, nails or skin. Let’s go for skin for now. Why? Well, skinless looks way cooler than bald or losing nails.

Then, what about the Large Ki?

Well, since Large Ki is the centipede body, the cost gonna be high. I expect something like intestines because that is one of the big organ we have that looks like centipede without legs.

If Qin used all of the Ki at once, he will be skinless, blind man without intestines.

That’s where the Valkyrie comes in.

His Valkyrie is something closer to Prudr, but she will be replacing his missing organs. If I were to name her power, I’ll call it Kintsugi (get it? Ki? Kintsugi?)

Kintsugi is a real method of fixing vase using gold. All the cracked part will be glued by gold.

So, our Qin will have gold on his skin, eyes and intestines from the Valkyrie. She will literally part of him inside out.

    Now, let’s summarise this thing.

Qin is now a half-gold person, riding a stone-mercury mecha centipede that charges to a god.

Well, this take a lot out of me. I think I’ll go to sleep now. Hopefully, without any centipede rushing towards me.

    EDIT : Sleeping is hard.

When I said riding the centipede mecha, I mean that, he can fuse the wall, army and his finger weapon into a stone-mercury Onyx that he controls like a dragon
He can ride it, use it for pincer attack, hit large object with it, use it to crawl on whatever the god create, etc

In hindsight, I should’ve used golem insteof mecha. Oh well.

EDIT 2 : It pains me that I can’t fit the thousands of concubines in this theory. But, considering that he has a Valkyrie inside him, I guess I accidentally covered it?

For fight, well, considering the complexity of Qin over here, he gotta fight someone simple. Otherwise, the fight will be mostly explanation of both fighters power. Certainly not Odin or Apollo. Both of them have too much stuff in their myth that can be used in a fight.

    Honestly, I have no idea.

  2. Qin might have his powers based around Chinese alchemy, which would support his ability to manipulate earth or mercury since the five elements are a core principle of eastern alchemy. His entire life goal is based on an alchemical concept (the elixir of life), so it’s not too much of a stretch, and he is the most ancient human on the roster besides Adam, so there could be hidden or lost knowledge that he had access to.

I also fully support the Hermes alchemy theory, and it will probably be relevant with Nostradamus’ powers too since he has a western alchemy symbol on his door and western alchemy is based on the philosophical texts of someone called Hermes Trismegistus. I don’t think Hermes directly interacted with humans by giving them his blood or anything, but rather he left texts and knowledge that humanity could use for themselves.
