This isn’t as dumb as it seems. It will be the wrong hub cap (possibly a generic item) that is held on by the wheel nuts or wheel bolts. There would be no way to align the valve stem with the correct postition.
I would have tried to get the right ones, or at least cut the hole a bit neater though.
