  1. Shanks’ arrival was the splash of cold water needed to dampen maddened spirits. It resulted in Blackbeard leaving the field and allowed for Sengoku to reassert control. In that sense he ended the war, that’s not really up for debate.

What this doesn’t mean is that Shanks’ arrival was the *sole* motivating factor in ending the conflict.

  2. I feel like “ending a war” isn’t something you can have an “official” credit for. If Sengoku didn’t order the Marines down the war would have continued but he only did that because Shanks showed up. Koby stalled and played a role in weakening the morale of most of the soldier and stalling (albeit unintentionally) for Shanks. You can’t say “the official statement is Shanks ended it” because . . . That is just not how things work.

  3. Oh my goodness, finally I have some evidence to argue against people who think otherwise about something that happened 500 episodes ago. I can’t wait to put this to use, thank you so much, this is incredibly useful.

  4. Wasn’t debatable tbh. What I do find interesting from this vivre card is that he evolved from mihawks duels to an equal presence to WB. Imo that implies strength.

Besides that it also says that he’s closest to pirate king in the sense of being the freest man on the seas. Since Luffy wants to be pirate king because there’s nothing freer, that by extension means that shanks is the final person who Luffy needs to surpass. This was already implied in chapter 1 but with surpassing shanks it’ll be surpassing him in everything not only freedom.

Portrayal for shanks is very strong and him being top 5 doesn’t sound farfetched at all.

  5. And he wasn’t a Yonko while being in the East Blue.

He probably lost his arms because he couldn’t even use Haki. Maybe even activated CoC the first time by saving Luffy.
