Murata already knew that the 3 generals are way weaker while he didn’t get the infos yet from ONE about how strong Tatsumaki was back then. That’s it.

After we saw her fight the fusion version of Orochi and Psykos + God power up we can say for sure she is stronger the Orochi.
I am not sure what is it with people constantly trying to dismiss Tatasumaki despite what we saw from her power wise.

While for all the Boros generals, he was perfectly sure they stand no chance against orochi

Based on the stories progression, do you really think Murata had everything planned out that long ago? Much more likely he goes “ooo, another centipede would be cool” then does it, lol

Eh, he apparently also stated that the galaxy-octopus general was equal to Tatsumaki in psychic power before too. Things change. Especially minds.
A lot of these plus other statements in the past are outdated since ideas and things changes over time. Tatsumaki beating Psyko-Orochi made that outdated since now there’s no villain she can’t beat besides the Monster God and maybe Garou since Murata is gonna make him way stronger than all villains before again not including the Monster God himself. Although the Orochi beating all three generals still makes sense since they are all around mid dragons to high at most judging by their attitude and reaction with each other so Orochi especially redraw Orochi would destroy them.
This was years and years ago. So far back there wasn’t even any mention of Psychorochi.
Yeah the original plans were scraped so these statements don’t hold water anymore. I’m sure generals individually are weaker but all of them together might do better.

Power scaling is dumb. Tatsumaki can be killed by a bullet if she’s not paying attention.

The generals can’t show anything anymore for obvious reasons.

One and murata is the author of this anime series. They definitely knows better than us. Only because we think or our brain decides that boros was stronger than orochi doesn’t means it’s true. I also always thought that boros was by far the strongest character shown in this series. But if murata says orochi is stronger than boros or orochi is stronger than tatsumski, I’ll believe it. Because they are the author. They made this they own this … Just accept the truth…
I guess Murata’s logic is probably Tatsumaki >> Boros generals. So at that point, if Tatsumkai isn’t even sure to beat Orochi, then definitely neither does the Boros generals has the chance
