I would say given the opportunity, he could maybe use the shadows to grip ledges or weapons (assuming the presence of said shadows). Although it doesn’t really seem like a practical mode of transportation given he’s a ninja that can leap over buildings in a single bound and run faster than the average bear. Seems like it would be a waste of chakra.
I wondered about it too. I think he can do it. All he have to do is grab himself with those shadow tentacles and then throw himself in air. But he can’t use shadow in mid air and thus he can’t become spider man and he will fall hard

As long as his feet stay connected to the shadow I don’t see why he can’t lift the shadows up and move around on them.
