The English voice actor is so incredibly painful it’s genuinely unbearable. I switched to subbed after watching naruto and shippuden dubbed.
Naruto and sasuke being nerfed and terrible people solely for the plot of genins that are for the most part carbon copies of their parents
I don’t hate boruto but like…
• Shameless nostalgia cash cow
• Controversial story track from the end of Naruto & The Last and Boruto the movie.
• Boruto is a dick who whines about things that compared to naruto are really trivial and also disrespects naruto
• No themes like destiny, cycle of hatred, etc
• other characters are pretty boring, exact bootleg copy’s of their parents. The kids are too op for there age.
• too many plotholes and bad writing
• Nerfing of Naruto and Sasuke
• Anime is apparently 90% filler
• WAY less incense and dark then naruto
• Lousy designs
• Boruto was unnecessary
• Not a lot of people like the more modern setting
• Doesnt feel like naruto
• cyborgs and aliens.
• The new threats really jar with the ending of Naruto, which is very complete and final.
• All the old favourites are sidelined.
• Terrible power scaling. Characters that have no business are hanging with the guys who are leagues above them and beating them.
• Relates to previous point, making vilains more powerful instead of giving them interesting backstory like Itachi, Nagato or personalities like Tobi, Deidara, Kisame, Hidan.
• New generations have uninspired character personalities and motivations.
Sasuke running out of chakra every fucking time
The writing is just not as good. Plain and simple. It’s not bad….it’s just not good
i personally dont hate it, i just think it doesn’t do justice to the old characters yet it focuses so much on them. like we basically have 0 idea how naruto has evolved throughout his time as hokage but all we know is that he got rusty and he doesn’t talk to his family much because he’s tired. sasuke doesn’t use his other rinnegan abilities and also doesn’t talk to his family, which makes no sense because we left shippuden with it being a time of peace, while in shippuden there were characters with whole lives outside of missions (i.e. iruka, asuma, the first and third hokage) during times of war and unrest. the characters don’t feel nerfed, just stupid for the sake of the plot. all development for the new characters boils down to how powerful they are as well and how similar they are to their pre boruto characters, with sarada and mitsuki being the only exceptions. the only development we get for boruto is after the first arc, then he essentially just acts like a bratty version of naruto. then there’s shit like the anime giving genuinely some of the worst filler arcs ever devised, fucking up power scaling completely and adding nothing substantial or interesting to the world of Naruto. so far the only character that feels interesting is kawaki but he’s just starting his arc essentially.
Shortly, it’s an all around downgrade
Bad storywriting
I’m watching right now. I have never spent longer to get through a show. Watching boruto put shapes in the wall to match their corresponding shape on the wall, was some of the worst content I have ever laid my eyes on. It was like watching Dora. I’m pushing through till the kawaki arc at the least, cause I’m at ep157. But holy fuck is this unenjoyable at the moment.
They wasted like a whole season and a half telling a story they told in an hour and a half movie
The hair
The manga is cool but I dislike the anime because of the amount of fillers and the English dub voice.
Boruto feels like it’s meant for a much younger audience, and something I liked about naruto/naruto shippuden was that it wasn’t afraid to be unnecessarily violent
Boruto butchered and slaughtered Naruto both thematically and literally. It’s like the characters inherited from Shippuden lost 90% of their neurons. Boruto himself was also such an immature, borderline-narcissistic petty fool in his younger years.
I have only watched subbed but I genuinely enjoy Boruto’s attitude and behavior. It would be on-par for someone his age. My only complaints are as follows:
– Kurama’s episode did him and Naruto so dirty. It could have been so much more…
– Nerfing Sasuke and Naruto could have happened later on because it’s not like Boruto and Co. are going to seriously challenge Code without Naruto/Sasuke/Boroshiki. They should have waited for the time skip and get a few more solid battles with the boys Naruto/Sasuke in.
– The current bunch of characters lack quality backstories/development esp. Metal Lee, Shikadai, etc.
So far I like it but there are glaring gaps in many plots and the criticism is most definitely warranted.
