For the past several years, comedian Dave Chappelle has been locked in a vicious cycle of anti-cancel-culture standup comedy. Over six Netflix specials, Chappelle has lashed out at what he views as progressive attempts to cancel him for his incendiary comedy — all while mocking the queer and transgender communities and the Me Too movement and generally doubling, tripling, and sextupling down on the offensive jokes and reactionary politics that people took issue with in the first place.
Bit of a hot take here but that special wasn’t really that funny. It felt like more of a lecture which isn’t necessarily a bad thing if done right, which he tends to do.
Does anyone know if hes going to still do standup? I know he said its going to be his last special but id hope he still does the club scene atleast and just riffs new jokes.
If you’re offended by Dave’s comedy and think he’s going especially hard on transfolk and lgbtq+ people you obviously don’t care about his jokes just that he’s joking about these groups. He has made way more inflammatory/childish jokes about white, black, Asian, and Hispanic people. He has also done some more insightful jokes about these groups of people just like with the lgbtq community. Why is it now and issue? Do you actually care or are you mad because you were told to be or read a headline and saw a single clip? In his special he says he doesn’t understand transpeople as he is old and outa touch but he can understand that you’re human and going through life’s tough times. Im not saying he probably doesn’t have some transphobic beliefs but Jesus people he’s an old man trying to learn and better himself and one person conveying their experience to him has helped him more than anyone yelling at him and he was trying to do the same in that special. Idk how far left you think the average person is but irl most people thing you’re doing drag and are fucking gross. He’s making little jokes like that but he goes into his very insightful and empathy inducing stories to try and get some understanding from others. Like if you think he wants to kill trans people y’all need help.
Some how media articles have turned this into Netflix being against their black Trans employees, no not trans people. Not black people. Specifically black Trans people, I love society:) edit: I can’t find the articles to link to but I remember seeing more than a few
Nah still funny.

It was all funny
Chappelle should wear a cape and jump from rooftop to rooftop.
Nope still funny
It hurt especially because he shared the story of meeting her in his secret ending of the stick and stones special which took place almost 2 years ago
This is one of his only specials that didn’t have me howlin but it’s one of my favorites. Rollercoaster for sure.
He’s hilarious
I knew your father, and he was a wonderful woman ????
If mere words can hurt your “movement” then your “movement” is a joke.
This is just deep
RIP Daphne. You damn well rocked!
I don’t get it
