Thanos left half the population of Xandar alive after retrieving the power stone. One of those survivors was Richard Rider.
Xandar begins to rebuild but then the blip happens leaving Xandar and the other alien nations weak.
From the Negative Zone Annihilus sees this as an opportunity to invade. Then I would just loosely adapt Annhilation.
Would set it during the 5 years of the blip. One of the great things about Annhilation was that while it was happening Civil War was happening on earth, while cosmic beings were fighting for survival the earth heroes were having a comparatively trivial conflict. So In the MCU while those on earth tried to move on with their lives those in space will be trying to survive a war.
My idea/theory is that It will be similar to ant man + batman beyond. Richard Rider will be a retired Nova/Nova Corps member. After the battle with thanos the nova corps are officially ended. A young Sam Alexander finds a prototype suit and is eventuslly trained by Richard Rider. RR is probably injured or something but at some point gets back in the fight or holds some bad guy off giving a dramatic moment.
It’ll have to tell the story of Thanos destroying the Nova Corps, so that’s gotta be in the first movie since we’ve heard literally one sentence ab Thanos destroying Xandar.
The Nova tv series will probably end with the start of the Annihilation event. Hopefully it’s more Richard Rider than Sam Alexander because while I like Sam, Richard is just such a better character imo.
I’ve only read some Nova, but when I did it was Annihilation where the Nova Corps gets wrecked and Richard Rider is basically holding the entire Nova Force within himself. He is solo for some time but the sheer power begins to eat at him and he eventually has to start recreating the Nova Corp.
I think you have a flashback to when Xandar is raided for the power stone, Richard is a Nova Corp member on planet but escapes/survives with what they will basically retcon as some kind of energy source/The Nova Force. We never really saw it in GotG but they did have a ton of ships/tech/whatever. I’m sure you could still add it in there. Richard escapes with this and crashes on Earth. Queue meeting Sam Alexander who I know very little about, but it would make sense for basically the movie to be about rebuilding the Nova Corps but Richard having to trust this kid with some immense power/responsibility because he has no other option. It’s basically Green Lantern, but Richard should live to mentor/keep some level of the Nova Force.
I do realize this plays right into the very common story line Disney loves right now of “Child is key to everything”.
I’m gonna be disappointed if he isn’t one of the unannounced phase 6 projects. I want Richard Rider over Sam Alexander for now, but idk who I’d want to play him.
I could see marvel pulling something like the nova corps have nannites keyed to their bodies that give them above average abilities normally.
During the snap, Richard Ryder was one of the survivors when half of the corps members turned to ashes.
The nannites from those downed corps members start attaching to the existing members and the remaining corps members realize that there was the ability to get stronger when their buddies got downed… that, in turn, causes massive infighting when some of the corps members want to absorb more nannites to become super powerful.
Richard Ryder ends up killing his fair share of former buddies and escapes to the last place the other guys would chase him to…. some planet old friend John c Riley mentions called earth. (Referring to “star lord” Peter quill’s home planet)
On the way, he’s discovered by his surviving former buddies and his ship is damaged before jumping into warp/hyperspace/ whatever…
Fast forward to earth where the shop ends up somewhere where we see a kid shaking Richard awake and asks who he is… Richard is groggy and starts to say, “Nova… C” and passes out again.
There we have Sam finding Richard and from then on keeps calling Richard nova. Later, Richard keeps using that name going his former buds don’t find him while he tunes the nannites properly for his body. In so doing, we’ll discover that Sam has similar genetics and Richard starts testing to see if he can share the nannites by temporarily conferring Sam the mantle of a nova corps member… starting his crusade to reestablish the corps.
Very 3:10 to Yuma inspired, using both Ryder and Sam.
Ryder has basically been playing Marshal, rounding up cosmic villains on his own after half of Nova was wiped outburst Thanos and the other half scattered. Throws them in (Insert marvel space prison from the comics) He finally brings in a particular big deal villain, just around the time Sam gets the helmet and is thrust into the whole thing. They are being hunted by the Allie’s of said bad guy til the end. They have to make stops along the way to throw them off, which gives time to see the galaxy, let both Ryder and Sam grow
Finale is them getting to the automated prison and having a space firefight. Which unfortunately sets free some of the villains already captured
Written about it at length before. Would be a new genre for them.
Spitballing but this is how I would do it.

Sorry, i dont really know Nova, so sorry if this is a stupid question.
Does Nova have anything to do with the Nova Corp in Guardians of the Galaxy?
My guess is both are being introduced in a Disney+ series, it’s pretty much confirmed.
I know this probably won’t happen but I want him with Spider-Man

Dude from Jack reacher should play him
I genuinely don’t care how they do it, I just want it. Sam? Richard? both? It doesn’t matter, I want Nova.

I’m unsure of what villain would make sense.

My theory is that with over 8 years to get ripped, John C Reilly is going to be the next big MCU surprise casting. Did I just become Nova? Yep!
Someone called Nova may or may not exist at some point.
I wish they don’t go woke this time (i.e Mar-vell) and give us proper Richard Rider
I think he will be introduced somewhere in phase 5-6
Its reported to be a disney plus show i hope not
Give me Richard Rider or give me death
I think it’s more likely we get Sam Alexander Nova. I doubt we get Richard
I want it to be Richard. But it will probably be Sam.
So long as they introduce the full Nova corps, not just him (but..mostly him)
Space western, miniseries or movie.

Hopefully closer to the original costume than the over worked pice of crap that Rich was wearing last time we saw him.
marvel is washed ever since disney joined
My guess is it won’t be a white man, and the plot will be about how the hero isn’t a white man. Only half sarcastic.
To be clear, IDGAF the identity details. So long as the show doesn’t focus on his/her/their identity details AT ALL.
I just came here to say the current comics Nova superhero costume is awful
It Is going to be in the audiovisual format, with characters, credits and a marketing campaign.
He will be gay and his first appearance will be in the 3-hour film about the orgies of the gods in omnipotence city.
Nova is being played by Will Ferrell, allowing a buddy cop movie between him and John C Reilly’s Nova Corps’ character in GOTG1
