  1. That doesn’t seem much like Renaissance art to me, although I guess you could make comparisons to the interest in light seen in the Northern Renaissance. It actually seems much more consistent with the values and characteristics of the previous movement, International Gothic.

  2. Murata is good but can we stop with the hyperbolic titles like this? It seems to imply that there aren’t any good modern artist, let alone Japanese ones. I’m pretty sure if you look outside of manga there are plenty of artist within the same spectrum as him

  3. Really makes you feel for mangaka like Miura. Totally fine with Berserk taking so long to come with new chapters, when you had museum-worthy work on every page.
When artists were using templates and assistants, this guy was still doing everything the brunt of his work by hand.

  4. ngl when i scrolled in my feed i had to check the sub cause at first glance i thought it was art based off junji ito’s [hellstar remina](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/22/7c/15/227c1535cab05c3e19d1199414da1870.jpg)….well, before the [planet eating](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C2T4vU8W8AEJjk6.jpg) anyway
