  1. Joseph possibly looked younger at 62. Hamon users age slower than normal people. Joseph looks like someone in his early-mid 60s in part 3, despise being almost 70. Straights was 75, and looked like he was in his mid-late 60s in part 2, with Speedwagon even commenting about it.

  2. To be fair, the family resemblance is quite strong, in the early generations.

Take a few years off old Joseph, change the hair a bit, clean up some of the lines and take away the beard and you’ll see it.

  3. She recognizes the facial features Jotaro inherited, assumed he shaved, and above all is griefstricken from her dad dying and WANTS it to be Joseph, because she still loves him.

It’s meant to be a ridiculous thing that she made the mistake, as Jotaro’s deadpan reaction implies.

  4. To be fair, the Part 1-3 JoJo body proportions are ridiculous and iconic. She probably had only ever seen someone built like that once in her life, and she had been waiting for him to return, so when she opened the door and saw the massive Jotaro, no matter if the resemblance/race, her heart must have blinded her and she felt that he had finally returned to her. At least, that’s been my headcanon.
