  1. I remember me and my friend using the C64 to see if we could “play” Eric Clapton – like, as in an Eric Clapton computer game would load if we put his album in. I think we thought he’d use his guitar as a gun or something?

  2. Vic 20 was a cassette drive, my C64 had a floppy drive.

*Paratrooper* was the longest load on Vic 20 iirc. you insert the cassette, load from the command line and then go mow the lawn. once you’re don’t mowing the game should be finished loading.

    *Gorf* was the best game.

  3. I remember loading Red Arrows on that dammed C64 tape deck. Felt like an hour before even seeing the main menu. In reality it was probably half that though.

  4. I’d didn’t have one of those, but I don’t really care for either load time or graphics. I still regularly play PS2 games on a 60 something smart TV, which makes the graphics worse

  5. Dude. Cassette tape drives. Still have mine for the 2600. That shit was *kissing fingers* beautiful. Only 60 minutes until the game was loaded.

  6. Had? I’ve still got it! And yes, it was a revelation when I got a Mega Drive and didn’t have to deal with load times any more. Everything since has been tolerable enough, since it’s not on a tape.
