Unpopular opinion: im way more picky now for graphics because how ridicolous and goofy looks 3d when is not good. Pre 32bit games ages better because their visuals were simple and evocative.
I remember me and my friend using the C64 to see if we could “play” Eric Clapton – like, as in an Eric Clapton computer game would load if we put his album in. I think we thought he’d use his guitar as a gun or something?
Vic 20 was a cassette drive, my C64 had a floppy drive.
*Paratrooper* was the longest load on Vic 20 iirc. you insert the cassette, load from the command line and then go mow the lawn. once you’re don’t mowing the game should be finished loading.
I remember loading Red Arrows on that dammed C64 tape deck. Felt like an hour before even seeing the main menu. In reality it was probably half that though.
I’d didn’t have one of those, but I don’t really care for either load time or graphics. I still regularly play PS2 games on a 60 something smart TV, which makes the graphics worse
Had? I’ve still got it! And yes, it was a revelation when I got a Mega Drive and didn’t have to deal with load times any more. Everything since has been tolerable enough, since it’s not on a tape.

I had the speccy 48k. Fuck your vic20 and c64! lol
I came from n64. Load times always pissed me off since then.
C64 baby!

I had a C64. I still don’t excuse poor programming that makes a game take minutes to load when my OS can load in under 20 seconds from a cold boot.

*Gorf* was the best game.
Truuuuuth
Fort Knox was my jam.
Also the game of life was pretty trippy
I taught myself Z 80 assembly language programming on the Timex/Sinclair ZX 81.

I have one
Lionel Richie and the…
The Spectrum was the ultimate test of photosensitive epilepsy.
I came from the N64, PlayStation, and Xbox, and those games loaded faster than GTA V.
Dude. Cassette tape drives. Still have mine for the 2600. That shit was *kissing fingers* beautiful. Only 60 minutes until the game was loaded.

God I’m so glad I was around during the 80s. This looks boring tbh.
This takes me back… Waiting for at least 5 minutes for a game to load!
I had a ZX81 and then a Spectrum 48K.
Still got one of those ZX Spectrums with the rubber keys!
