Kingdom Hearts for sure. The first two are reasonably coherent, but even then it’s super dark. That said, I’ll always have the greatest respect for whatever mad bastard thought up and convinced the relative parties to do a Disney + Final Fantasy crossover.
I played through the Kingdom hearts series as each game released, but I’ve also had someone explain the plot to me and I feel more confused than before I even started the series
BlazBlue : the black beast, okay, halumen is jin from the past but Jin is 20 year old though… Ah terumi is fusing with hakumen = susano, okay ? Ah what’s about Nu 13, oh. ok.
Metal Gear: After World War I a bunch of people who made money from the war got together and formed The Philosophers, which is essentially the illuminati. They guided the world from the shadows, and eventually decided what they should do is lead the world to a constant of war which would allow them to stay rich and powerful forever.
In part of a plot to continue this endless war the greatest soldier that ever lived, a woman named The Boss, was sacrificed as a pawn and killed by a member of a secret US special forces group as part of their game. The entire rest of MGS is about the fallout of this event, and trying to fulfill a dream The Boss spoke of before she died, a unite world where soldiers wouldn’t be used as pawns.
TL;DR. The illuminati were running the world, someone expressed a dream of a united world without their control, after that person died a bunch of other people tried to implement their own interpretation of the dream. That’s the big picture.
Some of those (MGS and Ace Combat) are extremely political games, which makes them hard to follow for most (or so it seems), but I wouldn’t say they have incomprehensible plotlines (like KH, I’m sure not even Nomura knows where he’s going sometimes).
To quote Starbomb from way back in the day: Our topic is games with simple plots. Will each of you please give a brief summary of the plot of your games?
Ha! Tell me you think that 10 two minute gameplay breaks in between eight hours of cutscenes is kind of torturous without telling me.
Op doesn’t even realize that they were the real Big-Boss/ heartless/ airplane/ main antagonist all along!
Metal gear is weird at first but pretty understandable when you played them. It’s basically two timelines
The one with big boss(mgs3 mgsV mgs peacewalker) and there is the future with solid snake mgs1 mgs2 mgs4)
Big boss cloned himself three times (solid snake solidus snake and liquid snake)
If you have further questions feel free to dm or comment here because mgs1 was the first game I played on the ps1 and I’m a total nerd about this franchise
As shameful as it is, I adore the Ace Combat lore and setting. 7 is my favorite to be sure, mostly because A: Your character doesn’t mater for 3/4ths of the game. And B: It shifts agressivly from war melodrama, to hauntingly realistic depiction of Balkanization
If you don’t understand that MGS timeline I don’t know what to tell you. It involves clones, nuclear weapons, melodrama, and giant walking tanks. Simple.
If you played every Metal Gear Solid game and have no idea what is going on, you either weren’t paying attention, or don’t have a shred of critical thinking skills.
Fighting games you expect to be a mess to shoehorn in all the characters and balance out batman and superman and other shit. Ace Combat 7 I expect people just don’t pay attention to the story because who the fuck plays a dogfighting game for the story?
But Kingdom Hearts and Metal Gear slid are straight up incomprehensible the fact there’s no hard contradictions is insane to me.
Wow, you gotta be a special kind of asshat to not the get the plot from Metal Gear Solid..yes 5 is a very bad example to get the overall idea from, but the rest are solid….unlike ace combat and kingdom hearts…..those are truly random ass stories with random ass plots about nothing.

I can actually comprehend what’s going on in the 1st 4 Metal Gear games tbh
I swear if I don’t see some Kingd… aww yeah.
What’s incomprehensible about the Ace Combat franchise plot?
I’ve played one metal gear and I don’t want to know that the fuck is going on.
I know it was made for reason but Dark Souls
Add the XenoGears/Saga/Blade games in that list. Those games have incomprehensible plots and heaps of gnostic pseudophilosophy in spades.
I’m pretty sure that XenoGears is someone’s Evangelion fanfic with the serial numbers filed off.
7 nukes on their own soil.
I mean, personally, I’d have swapped out Metal Gear Solid for Nier myself.

Metal Gear isn’t hard to understand its just whacky

I love Kingdom Hearts but I have abandoned all hope of understanding what is happening and just roll with it. “This guy is also Xehanortt? Got it.”
Hiding in the box is always a option

Sorry. I’ve only ever played the entire MGS.
Rachel please. I beg you. Start making some FUCKING SENSE.
Ace combat is still not that bad, the lore of the world is fun to know about but not necessary to the plot of the game.
Kingdom hearts on the other hand……
Also, the new Doom games
Am I mistaken, or wasn’t it the metal gear writers and directors who admitted that they aren’t even sure how to follow the story anymore?

I played both Ace Combat 7 and the Metal Gear Franchise and understand their plots perfectly, also side note Belka did EVERYTHING WRONG
If you played every Metal Gear Solid game and have no idea what is going on, you either weren’t paying attention, or don’t have a shred of critical thinking skills.
Metal gear was completely comprehensible
Honorable mention to the Trails series (Sky, Zero, Cold Steel, etc) mainly because there’s so many characters and plotlines to keep track of.
<3 BBCF
Ngl need to add path of exile plot, i play through the acts of thAt game maybe twice every league and i still dont understand wtf is the story
Where’s dark souls
Wtf is top left? I’m not joking.

Guilty Gear is probably just as if not more complicated than Blazblue. Something something That Man, Backyard, Gears, Flame of Corruption…
In metal gear when they finally tell you what’s going on….. only to find out an hour later you have no idea what’s going on.
Guilty Gear
Blazblue is an indecipherable mess…but I’m a sucker for fighters where almost every character has an air dash and mechanics like burst exist.
MGSV is pretty straightforward satire though like it’s not that hard imo.
Halo is up there now. 3 started to get weird. Now no one understands what the fucking is going on.
I think Metal Gear Solid is pretty easy to follow if you ignore Sons of Liberty. That shit still confuses me.
Play or watch the KH games in order then you get the gist
Metal gear requires some explanation
Just enjoy shooting planes and the fire music
Wtf is blaze blue? (never played it)
That’s my opinion on them
What about Final Fantasy?
Metal Gear isn’t incomprehensible, it’s just deep and complicated.
Me in fallout. I understand there were bombs dropped but as far as like BOS or enclave stories I couldn’t care less lol
Bruh metal gear isnt confusing if you just play the games
