The Four Horsemen Franchises of Incomprehensible Plotlines

  1. Kingdom Hearts for sure. The first two are reasonably coherent, but even then it’s super dark. That said, I’ll always have the greatest respect for whatever mad bastard thought up and convinced the relative parties to do a Disney + Final Fantasy crossover.

  2. BlazBlue : the black beast, okay, halumen is jin from the past but Jin is 20 year old though… Ah terumi is fusing with hakumen = susano, okay ? Ah what’s about Nu 13, oh. ok.

  3. Add the XenoGears/Saga/Blade games in that list. Those games have incomprehensible plots and heaps of gnostic pseudophilosophy in spades.

I’m pretty sure that XenoGears is someone’s Evangelion fanfic with the serial numbers filed off.

  4. Metal Gear: After World War I a bunch of people who made money from the war got together and formed The Philosophers, which is essentially the illuminati. They guided the world from the shadows, and eventually decided what they should do is lead the world to a constant of war which would allow them to stay rich and powerful forever.

In part of a plot to continue this endless war the greatest soldier that ever lived, a woman named The Boss, was sacrificed as a pawn and killed by a member of a secret US special forces group as part of their game. The entire rest of MGS is about the fallout of this event, and trying to fulfill a dream The Boss spoke of before she died, a unite world where soldiers wouldn’t be used as pawns.

TL;DR. The illuminati were running the world, someone expressed a dream of a united world without their control, after that person died a bunch of other people tried to implement their own interpretation of the dream. That’s the big picture.

  5. Some of those (MGS and Ace Combat) are extremely political games, which makes them hard to follow for most (or so it seems), but I wouldn’t say they have incomprehensible plotlines (like KH, I’m sure not even Nomura knows where he’s going sometimes).

  6. Ha! Tell me you think that 10 two minute gameplay breaks in between eight hours of cutscenes is kind of torturous without telling me.
Op doesn’t even realize that they were the real Big-Boss/ heartless/ airplane/ main antagonist all along!

Sorry. I’ve only ever played the entire MGS.

  7. Metal gear is weird at first but pretty understandable when you played them. It’s basically two timelines
The one with big boss(mgs3 mgsV mgs peacewalker) and there is the future with solid snake mgs1 mgs2 mgs4)
Big boss cloned himself three times (solid snake solidus snake and liquid snake)
If you have further questions feel free to dm or comment here because mgs1 was the first game I played on the ps1 and I’m a total nerd about this franchise

  8. As shameful as it is, I adore the Ace Combat lore and setting. 7 is my favorite to be sure, mostly because A: Your character doesn’t mater for 3/4ths of the game. And B: It shifts agressivly from war melodrama, to hauntingly realistic depiction of Balkanization

  9. Fighting games you expect to be a mess to shoehorn in all the characters and balance out batman and superman and other shit. Ace Combat 7 I expect people just don’t pay attention to the story because who the fuck plays a dogfighting game for the story?

But Kingdom Hearts and Metal Gear slid are straight up incomprehensible the fact there’s no hard contradictions is insane to me.

  10. Play or watch the KH games in order then you get the gist

    Metal gear requires some explanation

Just enjoy shooting planes and the fire music

Wtf is blaze blue? (never played it)

    That’s my opinion on them

  11. Wow, you gotta be a special kind of asshat to not the get the plot from Metal Gear Solid..yes 5 is a very bad example to get the overall idea from, but the rest are solid….unlike ace combat and kingdom hearts…..those are truly random ass stories with random ass plots about nothing.
