I’ve heard of motorcycle gangs, but looks like now there’s scooter gangs.

  1. Ah, England in the 1960s, tear-arsing around on my LI-150 with the lads, out of my brains on amphetamines and cheap wine, singing Hope I Die Before I Get Old. The best girls, the best music, the best fashions. A pox on all rockers.

  2. Almost every decent sized city in the US has a scooter club. The clubs have regular group rides. Many of them throw a rally every year so all their friends from other cities can come and have a weekend scooter party. There’s a huge convention every summer called Amerivespa, that moves around to different cities, usually drawing between 500 and 1000 riders. And btw, the 150’s and bigger can go as fast as motorcycles. They can be ridden on interstates, most riders just choose not to.

  3. OK in England, Lambretta and Vespa scooters were to ride of choice for alot of Mods in the 60s. And scooter rallies are a thing in the UK, in homage to the 60s.

The roundrel (see denim jacket in middle) was a mod symbol.

  4. When I was in HS back in the mid 80s, the Filipino gangs, or Flips, used to all ride around together on souped-up scooters like that. That kind of shit went all the way back to the 60s mods, maybe even earlier than that.
