My wife always talked about a great uncle she had. When she was young, he was only really allowed to come around during the holidays once in a while. He’d bring his “special friend” with him.
She didn’t realize until she was older that he was pretty much shunned because he was gay. He ended up drinking himself to death. Just think of how different it could have been had the family just tried a little. Such a tragedy.
