that is the part that pissed me off the most about the ending was like damn you could go spend some time with your daughter before going on a suicide mission
spoiler for squid game ahead >!at the end of the show, the protagonist is seen having died his hair, about to board a plane destined to see his daughter. right before he gets on the plane however, he decideds to confront those who ran the games and thus never gets on the plane. this image is making the joke that he indeed did get on the plane, therefore getting his happily ever after (or so we can assume) meaning a season two would be unneeded !<
Here’s why I think the ending was what it was. It may be out of track but I feel like this could be an explanation. Downvote this if you feel like it’s pretentious or far-fetched.
>!Even though he can leave the country and see his daughter and he didn’t, which, from a paternal perspective, is selfish, remember that he’s doing it with the money he earned from the bloodshed of other innocent human beings. Il-Nam pointed this out when he was about to die because Gi-Hun had survivor’s guilt. When Il-Nam played the final game with him, he wanted to see if people would still trust each other and help, using the beggar on the road. Because although this could’ve happened in the games(when they said there could be more than one winner, assuming), people turned on each other, willing to kill for something they will be guilty for, for the rest of their lives.!<
>!His daughter was introduced just to reinforce the innocence in him, only to shatter it in the games. Now Gi-Hun will use that money to avenge the deaths of his friends and to stop countless other lives from being taken away in the next squid game. He betted on horses at the start and now, he’s going to stop other horses from being bet on. Gi-Hun’s character was never to be a good father in the first place. I feel like it’s more of a redemption story for him.!<
It wouldn’t make a lot of sense. No spoilers, but things were pretty much wrapped up at the end. Some loose ends, but not enough to make a second season out of.
Maybe an unpopular opinion but a second season would just seem like a money grab.
No way he’s flying economy. By depositing a large sum in the bank, two-three business class plane tickets are practically free given by his debit/credit card
How confused some people must be to this picture.
About time he went to take care of his daughter!
Hey OP, if you have a gas mask I’d pull it on now. Just to be safe.

Does it even need a season 2?

I know they want to make a s2, but just get on the plane.
He returned back on the plane, but plot twist : He actually got put to sleep and the plane is the transportation for players!
What’s funny now?

Am I supposed to know wtf this means?
My old ass just thought of Gerard Way
“Get onto the plane”
“Oh, ok.”

Honestly that ending was a fucking joke.
