For this piece I was really inspired by the cover art for the last chapter of Dragon Ball “Farewell Dragon Ball” https://dragonball.fandom.com/wiki/Farewell,_Dragon_World!
The style of design used for Shenlong is definitely my favorite and I wanted to make it in the style of the Black Star Dragon.
Also I really loved GT as a teenager. Reading about it’s plot lines, new characters, villains, downloading copies of the opening and ending themes all made it so mysterious. Long before the days of YouTube these were, and GT wouldn’t come to America for another 5 years, but at the time we had no idea when it would, really.
I wanted to draw an illustration with the mindset of “if GT were still ongoing from the manga, how would the first chapter covers look like, or how would the volume covers look like?” And this is what I came up with.

Since the Black Stars are much more powerful than Dende’s set, would it be possible to use them to remove their own restrictions? Or remove Shenron’s restrictions without drawbacks?
