Why did the demons ask humans to become demons instead of just forcing blood into their bodies and turning them into demons anyways? Or do you need consent to become a demon? But didn’t Nezuko and that random guy become demons without consent?

  1. For precious targets like Renguko and Tanjiro, their approvals prior to turning Demons are just to make sure they don’t Off themselves by going sunbathing after getting turned if it was done against their will.

  2. okay might be a little stretch but here’s my 2 cents – 2 main points (shouldn’t have big spoilers):
    – drawn in manga, when a subordinate of muzan turns someone into a demon, they give them a good amount of blood to drink, so it might require a minimum amount, which reng/tanj probably wouldn’t take in on purpose. and if forced into him, he’d probably take their own life or continue trying to kill the demon
    – this’ll be more of a stretch: turning into demon has something to do with desire as well as permission (in addition to being a strong human or eating quality humans), the stronger it is, the stronger the demon or more screwed up i think, like gyuutaro had a burning desire for vengeance on a cruel world, douma >!was just a fked up kid lol!<, etc. and like other commenters say, they would be under muzan’s brainwashing but they could still do some sort of self-sabotage.

  3. nezuko and that random guy were turned into demons by michael fucking jackson himself! the other cases were of upper rank demons, who have the right to offer muzan’s blood to humans if they think they want to make them into demons. akaza did it because he say potential in rengoku and didn’t want him to die. gyuutaro did it because he pitied the current state of tanjiro. (spoilers) >!kokushibo directly gave muzan’s cells to kaigaku when he submitted to him as he was the highest ranked demon, under muzan ofc. kaigaku had no choice but to consume the cells, as if he did not, he would have been decapitated on the spot.!<

  4. because when an upper moon gives blood to a human, it sends a signal to muzan and they’ll turn into a demon only if he gives permission. so if the blood is given by force muzan might get pissed.

  5. Personalities. Akaza had a semblance of honor and Gyutaro “asked” Tanjirou to try and validate himself. Remember Gyutaro thought that despite the nature of becoming a demon, he himself was given a choice and he rightfully believed that his choice was the right one.

  6. turning demon slayers into demons is not an instant thing as breathing directly counters demon turning blood because they can control their own bloodstream to manipulate the flow of whatever is in their systems

  7. >!I assume they’d get into trouble by Muzan since they could bring the slayers closer to finding his whereabouts. Muzan shakes at the thought of another Yoriichi emerging so he tries his hardest to hide.!<

    >!I think Muzan made the upper moons in the event that another Yoriichi does emerge. Whilst the moons get smoked, Muzan runs!<

Anime only: This is only a possibility so don’t take this literally. He is probably trying to keep himself hidden in the event that a super strong Slayer emerges.

Another possibility is suicide. >! Upper moon 1 is shown to get super frustrated at the thought of someone wasting Muzan’s blood, like Kaigaku, so giving demons precious blood just to end up commiting suicune is a huge no-no!<.

  8. The whole point of turning them is for them to be an asset. They have enough experience with this that if they were forcibly turned they’d either walk into the sun or use the power to fight back as much as possible and then die.

  9. It’s Muzan’s blood, and only he can turn human into demon. The 2 occasuions in the picture were humans turned directly by Muzan.

Demon can asked human to be demon but ultimately it’s up to Muzan permission to turn that human into demon (though the human have to endure the process of demonification).

And also in all occasion of demon ask human to be demon, all that demon ultimately became 12 kizuki

  10. It is explained in the manga, but not revealed yet so, spoiler ahead, >!it takes longer to turn swordsmen into demons and a lot more blood. The better the swordsmen the longer it takes and the more blood it requires!< this will sure be explained in an anime episode in the future so spoil at your own risk

  11. All the upper moons are sadistic in their own way. But in my opinion I think asking a demon slayer to turn to a demon is like a low blow. And if you accept the blood, you’re basically admitting being a demon is better.

Like “hey, you’re dying and no chance of recovery, just be a demon and you’ll never die or suffer (: ”

At the end of the day it’s more about breaking morale and the will of demon slayers for always fighting a losing battle

  12. In terms of narrative and symbolism, people are making a deal with a devil. Those offered are not in ideal situations, so Muzan and the Moons look at these unfortunate and angered people as ideal candidates to serve as demons. They’ll be fueled by their resentment and only fear Muzan. Muzan is the only one who deems people “worthy” of the transformation, and the Moons for all intents have the means to give the blood/cells of Muzan to others. It’s kind of a demon pyramid scheme.

The scene with Douma is to highlight a contrast between the humans of the Entertainment District and a literal monster. Only the monster came to the aid of those children on death’s door, and did so as a “kindhearted” bystander. That the one to save and give a future to Gyutaro and Ume was, in some sense, less of a monster in that action.

  13. Nezuko and the random husband were insane and unintelligent. Nezuko couldn’t speak and be intelligent like the lowest demons even outside the twelve moons. So, without consent leads to some form of madness and uncontrollable demon powers unless you’re special like nezuko was for being a sun breather family member and demon. Otherwise, you go crazy feral demon.

  14. Answer 1:They’ll kill them,Answer 2:Akaza has the warrior’s code and wouldn’t force blood into someone he respects without an agreement and Gyutaro really did not care whether Tanjiro lived or died so he just gave him the option to join the demons because he saw a small bit of himself in Tanjiro

  15. I think it’s their last shine of humanity popping up, for you to become a demon and abandon your humanity your life needs to be either very shit or you a bad person, in both cases both akaza and gyutaro offered turning rengoku and tanjiro into demons to help them, rengoku was about to die and tanjiro was all alone, it’s a very human thing to want to belong into a group and ask for others to join in
