I know it’s over now but part of me is kind of upset that we won’t get a season 2. Yeah it wasn’t perfect with dumb changes but I still enjoyed watching it

  1. The decision to cancel it after only 3 weeks indicate that NF was aware of the problems with it before launch. Held a meeting, where suggestions were rebuked. Given the characters that were introduced and the manner in which the LA deviated from the source material, it would probably have only gotten worse

Season 1 was likely their A material

There is plenty of other literal garbage to watch if thats what you’re in the mood for

  2. It had it’s flaws but tbh I enjoyed it. Could they have done some things differently? Yes. Was it worth the watch? Yes. It couldn’t ever be what the animated series was, but I don’t regret watching it and would watch season 2 if they made it.

  3. For those saying that the actors didn’t care or try: the actors are not only immensely talented from one end to the other, they really did so much to understand what makes the characters good. However actors save the series from directors that doesn’t quite understand what made the animated series and movie work. Actors job is to bring the directors vision of the characters to life.

Eds cringy reveal is testament to this. She knows what made Ed special and was definitely motivated for the role and clearly put alot of effort into playing Ed. However because the directors doesn’t exactly know what made Ed work, that thin line between quirky and cringy was overstepped to the one side, resulting in what we got in the Netflix series.

“The director, Roger Christian, has learned from better films that directors sometimes tilt their cameras, but he has not learned why.”
    — Roger Ebert’s review of Battlefield Earth

  4. Honestly, the only part I didn’t enjoy was Vicious character. I didn’t see anything wrong with the show. Even Edward wasn’t bad. Sure, Ed introduction was obnoxious, but that felt like Ed to me. I think if we got more of Edward, they would show the side of Ed where she* is very go with the flow. Idk man, I enjoyed the Netflix vers a lot. It wasn’t bad. Just vicious was cringe.

Edit: sorry I didn’t know Edward is a girl. Pls b nice

  5. Spike, Jet, and Faye (besides the obvious lesbian fetishizing) were honestly really great up until the last episode. They got Vicious’s character completely wrong and the Julia subplot was garbage but I fell in love with all the side characters. I think the end was the nail in the coffin though because in one fell swoop they retconned every character development of the season. Main villain conflict aside, you can’t end a show who’s main focus is “found family” with that family abandoning each other over dumb stuff. I don’t think it’s the actors fault because they did well but the show missed the mark on what made the original great in the first place.

  6. Too much wrong with it.

Hated the new Faye, Spike storyline just felt wrong and didn’t have the feel set in a particular universe.

Honestly, the only good thing was Jet.
