Still one of the most baffling post-crisis decissions for me is.. everything around Supergirl. So DC felt they needed Supergirl she was too iconic and popular to actually get rid of. But DC was also “But Superman MUST Be the only Kryptonian BECAUSE REASONS” So they just kept on with more and more convoluted nonsense instead of… just introducing a post crisis version of Kara, the character the audience already knew.
Like with Matrix their like well we can’t say Multiverse Supergirl because no multiverse anymore so we’ll invent this idea where there’s a super special pocket universe that TOTALLY ISN’T just multiverse where there was only Krypton and Earth and Zod came to Earth and killed EVERYONE and Lex from there made this lifeform to try and fight him and it becomes Supergirl. It’s infinitely more confusing and harder to hook someone than just “She’s Supermans cousin who also survived”
I was introduced to Matrix by the Peter David run collected in trade (or at least the first 40ish issues were)a few years ago so I actually like her because of it. I read this storyline last year in the latest Man of Steel hardcover volume and enjoyed it decently as well. But between those two writers/stories, man was she unenjoyable. I went through the Death of Superman saga this year and her Lex Luthor simping was unbearable and the character’s existence was just kinda odd. I understand wanting to have Supergirl without having her be Supergirl, but it was closer to having a robot replacement lookalike stand in where it looked the part, could mimic certain cues but ultimately felt hollow and soulless. Ironically that criticism became canonical as Peter David used it as a narrative for her within his run to great effect.
I think the strangest thing about this cover is Supes’ look of surprise and recognition when at this point he shouldn’t remember anything from pre-Crisis and so he wouldn’t know Supergirl. So, the question now is who is the “you” he thinks she is?

My Supergirl!!
This was one of the first issues of Superman I ever had. I believe it was in a three-pack from Walmart.
I wish they would bring back Matrix Supergirl. The Super Family reunions would be even more wild!
[Edits I made to make it “Textless”.](https://imgur.com/a/6fAyglQ)

This is the exact scene and dialogue of when my hot cousin walked in on me jerking it to pics of her on spring break
Is there a panel of this without the title?
Me reading that one page of the Death of Superman when I was just getting into comics
She’s my favorite Supergirl. I especially loved when Mae merged with Linda Danvers and lived in Leesville.
