  1. Honestly, yeah. People praise AOT for its portrayal of women and “romance” but the only good part is they are not fanserviced to death. Everything else about them is pretty mediocre, with Ymir being the worst case because Stockholm Syndrome isn’t even the accurate term for what went on with her and Fritz. It would have been way cooler if she just hated him with a passion. Then the whole “needing to see Mikasa and Eren” would make some sort of sense since she needed to see true love or whatever because she either didn’t receive it EVER (not even from her parents) or “she forgor :skull:” due to the abuse Fritz put her through.

Mikasa wasn’t so bad, at least in the manga, but Isayama fumbled her post-timeskip and she really should have thrown her scarf into the ocean or wrapped it around Eren’s grave as a callback. Her being buried with it was also especially morbid considering her character development involved letting go of Eren and living for herself.

Historia was pretty good up until she fell in love with the man who stoned her. It’s kind of a shame she got shafted in the end.

And Annie’s ending shouldn’t have been with her falling in love with Armin and him visiting her was stupid. Levi should have been the one visiting her to talk about the squad that she brutally killed, and in the end it should have been Annie rolling his ass around through Paradis as he forced her to go on a whole ass apology tour (debatably with Reiner because while he was just as ruthless as Annie and responsible for killing others, he didn’t get off easy at all).

TLDR: Freckles Ymir is peak AOT. Peak romance with Historia and kino writing with her in general. Definitely the best female character of the show.

  2. I know it’s a joke but I didn’t get to say it last time so I will this time.

Armin has more of a right to hate Annie than she does him.

    – She was a part of the attack that ruined his hometown and eventually lead to his grandparents death.
    – She killed his fellow scouts and injured him too.

Armin only tried to capture her after all of that. How people make Armin “the bad guy” here and Annie the victim is dumb as hell.

He also didn’t make her a prisoner for years she did that herself.

Also, Mikasa’s one misses a lot of context. He called her a slave to distance himself from her. He also saved her multiple times before.

Ymir sure and Historia’s one I don’t really care lol. The farmer did that as a child it’s almost as if people change greatly after a decade. The issue is Isayama should have displayed that changed or focused on him a tad more.

  3. All of these are fair besides annie. The love part is a bit iffy but I’m pretty sure you’d appreciate any person that kept you entertained for 4 years without any other stimuli. The worst thing we as humans can endure is boredom, in some aspects, worse than torture.

  4. then people complain when others call isayama a misogynist, if only romance had never been a thing in this story, at least not an important theme in the ending, he and kishimoto fight over who writes the worst romance

  5. tbh for me only ymir one is truly wrong (theoretically it can be explaied, but still is fucked up)

mikasa loved eren because he saved her and because he was literally the last living member of her ‘family’. for me she clearly had some attachment issues because her life trauma, so her feelings for him was really strong. and we know this slave thing was a lie to actually protect her. and i think we shouldn’t also forget about the fact that she killed eren in the end. she knew he did wrong things.

Historia x farmer-kum also isn’t so bad. he threw rocks at her when he was a stupid child and as adult he felt really guilty for that. it seems that they just forgave each other.

annie x armin is a classic ‘forbidden love’ story. it’s weird as fuck, but it’s very popular motive in the media. i know for some people this type of love is wrong but well if they can forgive each other and forget about the past so why not (i think we shouldn’t forget that annie also did shit things to armin like killing his comrades, destroying the wall, it isn’t one- sided)

sorry for bad engrish I’m learning to write without google translator

  6. Ok the Annie one is, understandable at least. Literally had interactions with exactly two people for two years. I can see how feelings would develop there. Not particularly healthy but understandable

  7. Mikasa loved Eren before all that, people change believe it or not, yeah that one was kinda oddly played out, it’s pretty heavily implied that Annie like Armin before all that went down, not to mention that it’s not like Armin is to blame for anything that happened to Annie
